Q: What is HomeTown Radio?
A: The areas only daily news
source dedicated only to Amador
and Calaveras Counties.
Q: Why do I need a "Special Radio" to
pick up HomeTown
Radio?
A: HomeTown Radio
broadcasts on the sub-carrier of 94.3, the
old KNGT in Jackson.
Q: What happened to KNGT?
A: After nearly 30 years of local
ownership, KNGT was sold to an
investment group from Texas, who in turn
sold to Univision
Radio and the format was changed to Spanish language.
Q: Has "SCA" Broadcasting been around
long?
A: YES, for many years the
Muzak Company used radio sub-
carriers to pipe music into department
stores and office
buildings. Then in the mid 80's the company
switched to a
satellite
delivery system.
Q: How did the current form of "SCA"
Broadcasting get
started?
A: In many large cities across
the nation, growing ethnic
populations were looking for ways to broadcasting news
of
their homelands and local community, and the present form of
"SCA" Broadcasting was born.
Q: How did HomeTown Radio get it's
start?
A: After exhausting all avenues
to find an AM or FM frequency for
the area, longtime KNGT employee Jim Guidi
came upon the
idea of "SCA" Broadcasting.
Q: Are the special radios expensive?
A: NO... the radios, which also
pick up the FM Band, run around
$30.00, about half the cost of the average
monthly cable bill.
Q: Is there a subscription fee for
HomeTown Radio?
A: Again the
answer is NO... The one time purchase of a
HomeTown Radio provides you with the
latest news and
information without the worry of continuous monthly fee or
subscription
rate increases. |
